Weekend tram testing gets rolling

13 August 2019

Weekend tram testing got underway in Randwick on Saturday 10 August as vehicle testing and driver training ramps up in preparation for passenger services in December.

CBD and South East Light Rail services will operate 7 days a week, day and night, so drivers need to train accordingly.

Expanding testing to include weekends allows drivers to work up their training hours and will also help trams meet their minimum required running time ahead of the first passenger services.

With tram testing expanding to seven days in Randwick, and soon also in Moore Park and Surry Hills, people moving in and around these areas should be aware of their surroundings at all times when near the light rail alignment.

Whether you’re walking or riding your bike, avoid distractions and cross the tram tracks safely.

Drivers should be aware that road conditions have changed and to follow traffic signals.

It’s also a good time to remind road users final traffic arrangements are now in place on High Street, Randwick.
