VIDEO: 'Super T’s’ lifted into place for Anzac Parade pedestrian bridge

13 February 2019

More than 136 tonnes of steel and concrete has been craned over Anzac Parade in Moore Park to build a new pedestrian bridge that will give students, sports fans and event-goers safe and convenient access to the new Moore Park light rail stop.

Last weekend, a 750 tonne crane, which is one of the largest used on the project, was used to lift two steel girders weighing 68 tonnes each to form a 70-metre span to support a new pedestrian bridge.

The bridge will provide a safer crossing option from the Moore Park light rail stop to the campuses of Sydney Boys and Sydney Girls High Schools for the 1800 plus students who currently cross Anzac Parade each day.

It will also benefit hundreds of thousands of sports fans and event-goers who will catch the light rail to Moore Park.

For motorists on Anzac Parade, the bridge over the road removes a set of traffic lights, improving traffic flow.

The bridge will be fully accessible with lifts installed at either end.

Work to build platforms, install safety railings, lighting and lifts will continue over coming months before it is commissioned in time for light rail services commencing.
