Tram Testing in Surry Hills2 September 2019
Between Randwick Terminus and Central Chalmers Street stop, tram testing and driver training has expanded to day and night on weekdays and weekends to prepare for passenger services starting in December.
Teams have completed a significant amount of footpath restoration works in Surry Hills including kerb and guttering and paving. Traffic signals have also been switched with traffic and trams now operating under the new traffic light phases. Road asphalting at the Elizabeth Street, Eddy Avenue and Foveaux Street intersection is due to be completed in early September.
The pocket park in Buckingham Street is nearing completion with vegetation to be planted, and Ward Park has been reinstated.
Traffic conditions in the area have changed with the westbound lane reopening on Devonshire Street between Bourke and Crown Streets.
