During April, work in zone 14, on Chalmers Street between Elizabeth Street and Devonshire Street, focused on laying the track slab in preparation for the installation of rail. High voltage cable investigation and installation work in the eastern and western footpath, as well as stormwater works, are also underway.

A Sydney Trains electrical feeder has been successfully relocated and work will now progress towards completing the installation of Ausgrid conduits. This feeder is one of four that powers Central Station.

With the closure of the Waterloo Street intersection, utility works are nearing completion and this will allow track slab excavation work to continue between Waterloo Street and Steel Street.

In Zone 17, Devonshire Street, between Riley Street and Crown Street, track slab excavation will be completed in May.

Preparation for a traffic switch during May has been the focus in zone 18, Devonshire Street, between Crown Street and Bourke Street. This will enable the track slab concrete on the southern side of Devonshire Street to be poured. Nickson Street and Nickson Lane will be closed for these works. Detailed notifications with detour maps have been provided to affected residents.

Track slab concrete pour has started at Olivia Gardens in zone 19, between Bourke Street and South Dowling Street along the rail corridor. Track laying will start in early May and is scheduled for completion by early June. Significant drainage work will start in May, followed by the installation of conduits across South Dowling Street.
