Surry Hills utilities work advances4 April 2018
Notifying stakeholders about excavation and ongoing utility work was a key priority for Surry Hills zones in March.
In Zone 14, Chalmers Street between Eddy Avenue and Devonshire Street, utility night work saw the installation of a high voltage cable on Elizabeth Street. Track installation also continued in this zone between Eddy Avenue and Sydney Dental Hospital.
In Zone 16, Devonshire Street between Elizabeth and Steel Streets, plus along Elizabeth and Rutland Streets, Ausgrid and Sydney Trains worked to install essential conduits over the Easter weekend. This work is also due to continue over the school holidays from 14 to 29 April.
Utility work recommenced at the intersection of Devonshire Street and Holt Street, as well as Devonshire Street and Waterloo Street. This work resulted in localised traffic changes, with all affected stakeholders notified ahead of the changes.
Over in Zone 17, Devonshire Street between Steel and Crown Streets, excavation work has started near Ward Park in preparation for laying the concrete track slab.
Excavation works also took place in Zone 18, Devonshire Street between Crown and Bourke Streets. Utility work on footpaths for low voltage and property connections were part of this work.
In zone 18/19, at the Bourke and Devonshire Street intersection, the team successfully installed the rail over the Easter long weekend. We appreciate the patience of nearby residents as crews worked continuously to install the track slab and rail across the intersection into Wimbo Park/Olivia Gardens.
