Light rail sneak peek for Kensington youngsters

13 February 2020

Steady rain did little to dampen the enthusiasm of a group of young visitors to the Juniors Kingsford light rail terminus on Friday, 7 February.

The Kensington Public School students were invited to the stop for a special tour of a parked tram and to hear some important safety information.

Around 60 students from Year 1 and 2 hopped on board the tram to take a look around and become familiar with the vehicles ahead of services starting on the L3 Kingsford Line.

Soon passenger services will begin between Kingsford and Circular Quay, marking the start of services along the entire 12km CBD and South East Light Rail alignment.

The L2 Randwick Line, operating between Circular Quay and Randwick, opened on 14 December 2019.

Tram safety material is available for all primary schools as part of the Safety Town road safety education website.

Safety Town is a suite of digital and non-digital teaching and learning activities to support the teaching of road safety from Kindergarten to Year 6 in NSW primary schools.

The website includes interactive activities, comprehensive teaching notes, links to relevant transport information, and updated information for parents and carers.

The Road Safety Education Program is funded by the Centre for Road Safety in government and non-government schools.
