Kensington and Kingsford July milestones4 August 2019
Teams in the precinct reached a significant milestone with overhead catenary system installation starting along the alignment. This signals the first stage of the testing and commissioning phase. Systems energisation and night tram testing will start later this year.
Teams in zone 28 have removed all timber power poles. Main switchboards to power street lights have been energised along Anzac Parade between Tay Street and Duke Street. Work to install delineation kerb is underway between Alison Road and Abbotford Street. Teams are progressing work on the ES Marks stop with systems fit-out and paving. Preparations to install traffic lights and the pedestrian crossing north of the ES Marks stop are progressing.
In zone 30 works are moving ahead on UNSW Anzac Parade and Kingsford Juniors stops to energise both in the next few weeks.
Road restoration, including line marking, is nearing completion in zone 31. Work on the bike shed and landscaping has been completed. Systems fit-out and paving on the Kingsford Terminus is also progressing ahead of energisation in August.
Upcoming works in the precinct include energising stops, installing and energising traffic light signals, running the overhead wiring, and kerb, gutter and driveway restoration works.
