Daytime testing underway in Randwick

30 April 2019

Daytime tram testing is now underway in Moore Park and Randwick, which means visitors to the area will need to be aware of trams, especially at crossings and intersections.

Testing will be carried out in between Lang Road on Anzac Parade to Wansey Road on Alison Road.

Motorists, bus commuters, cyclists and pedestrians will see more trams testing during the day outside of the morning and afternoon peaks.

Cyclists and pedestrians enjoying the new shared path open on Alison Road will also need to be mindful of the changed conditions, and cross safely at traffic signals.

A public tram safety campaign, “Be aware there’s a tram there” is running as testing moves further into Moore Park and through Surry Hills. Transport for NSW is developing a safety program and will work with nearby schools to ensure they are aware of the testing program and safety messages for students.

Traffic Control will initially be in place at key crossing points as members of the public become more aware of tram movements and get used to interacting with trams.

Take a look at the light rail safety page for more information on the public safety campaign.
