Construction progresses on Devonshire Street

21 February 2017

We are ramping up work in Surry Hills, with the establishment of two more construction zones in February. Work sites were established on Devonshire Street in zone 16, between Elizabeth and Waterloo streets, and zone 17, between Waterloo and Crown streets from 22 February. This follows utility work on Devonshire Street, between Elizabeth and Waterloo streets, from December 2016.

Construction sites are now in place on Devonshire Street between Chalmers and Crown streets. No parking is permitted in these areas and loading zones have been relocated to side streets where possible. Impacted stakeholders should review their copy of the Local Access Plan for more information. Where possible, one lane of eastbound local traffic will be maintained between Holt and Crown streets. At times, full closure of Devonshire Street between Chalmers and Crown streets may be required.  There will be limited access onto Devonshire Street from Holt, Clisdell, Waterloo, Riley, Marlborough and High Holborn streets.

Work has been continuing in zone 15, Devonshire Street between Chalmers and Elizabeth streets, including deep drainage work and major relocation of electrical cables.

Light rail work will also start in the remaining section of Devonshire Street, in zone 18 between Crown and Bourke streets, from 10 March. A construction notification will be distributed before the work begins.

On 24 February the first stage of construction work got underway in zone 14, Chalmers Street between Eddy Avenue and Devonshire Street, to implement new traffic arrangements before light rail construction starts in this area. Randle Street will be closed as part of this work.
