Randwick construction update

30 May 2017

In High Cross Park, excavation is now being carried out for the underground substation, which will minimise impact on the park. Night work will take place in the area from late May.

On Wansey Road, between Alison Road and High Street, excavation and piling work are underway. In zone 26, work is well underway on High Street, between Wansey Road and Avoca Street, with ongoing utility work, gas relocation and water connections.

In zone 24, Alison Road between Darley and Wansey Roads, excellent progress has been made with most of the track now in place in this zone. The substation structure has also been completed and is now being fitted out ready to help power the light rail.  Ongoing utility work is taking place at the intersection of Alison Road and Prince Street, and conduit installation at the Prince Street and King Street intersection.

Work will continue at the intersection of Alison and Darley roads, and across Alison Road into the Randwick Stabling Yard, over selected weekends throughout June. Crews have a challenging task ahead as they build the tracks that will cross Alison Road at these two busy locations. Weekend work is necessary at these locations to minimise disruption to weekday traffic and bus services.
