Growing trees for Sydney Light Rail25 August 2016
More than 1,800 new trees are expected to be planted as part of the CBD & South East Light Rail project, with the species of tree determined in association with the local council or the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust.
Almost 900 of these trees will be along the light rail alignment, while the remainder will be planted within the affected local government areas.
We recently visited Alpine Nurseries in Dural where more than 100 trees are being pre-grown to be planted in the Surry Hills segment of the light rail route.
In the video above, we chat to nursery manager Daniel Heiden about the processes and maintainence involved with pre-growing tree stock for the project.
