CBD summer work

3 January 2018

The response to the completion of civil construction in two of our zones on George Street, between King and Park Streets, has been overwhelming. It was great to see the community enjoying the new space and the Transport for NSW Christmas wreaths during the busy shopping season.

This year we will be putting the finishing touches on these zones, including small areas of paving, intersections, smart poles and systems work, as well as construction of the QVB stop.

Utility work was successfully carried out at Campbell Street over two weeks in December. We worked closely with stakeholders to minimise disruption during this work and would like to thank them for their patience.

Crews will be making the most of lower CBD traffic volumes over the summer holiday period to carry out some important light rail works.

Work has been underway during December at the intersection of George Street with Bridge and Grosvenor Streets to prepare for summer work in this area. Utility work will be carried out at the intersection from 10pm, 1 January to 5am, 15 January 2018.

Work will also be carried out at the intersection of George and Hay Streets, from 6am, 1 January to 5am, 29 January. George Street, north of Railway Square, will be closed to general traffic until 10pm, 15 January. Inner West Light Rail replacement buses will be operating during this time.
