CBD intersection work resumes

26 June 2018

Weekend work on CBD intersections has resumed now that Vivid Sydney’s fabulous lights have been switched off for another year.  Intersection works include Hunter and Margaret Streets, Park and Druitt Streets, and Goulburn Street.

Track installation will continue in the CBD with double track to be laid in a number of zones, including:

  • zone 1 - Circular Quay along Alfred Street to George Street
  • zone 4 - the longest zone in the CBD, George Street between Margaret/Hunter Streets and King Street
  • zone 11 - George Street between Hay Street and Rawson Place, and
  • zone 13 - Eddy Avenue between Pitt Street and Elizabeth and Chalmers Streets.

Excavation works for the QVB and Wynyard light rail stops have started, with work on the other CBD light rail stops set to occur in the next few months.

Crews have also been working to construct both the Circular Quay and Haymarket substations. This includes trenching work and installing a high voltage cable along Barlow Street and Parker Street. This critical work will power the Haymarket substation.
